In the heart of Tamil soil, at Trichy, he stood,
A voice of truth and courage, firm and good,
Tyagi ‘Vakil’ N. Halasyam, a lawyer of renown,
For India’s freedom, he gave up profession’s crown.
From Angarai village, he moved to Trichy city,
A scholar, a lawyer, with resolve so gritty,
India’s freedom movement, loud and near,
Made him a leader, a powerful orator, without fear.
A voice for Khadi, a torch for the weak,
He marched with Rajaji, at his very peak,
In salt’s defiance, with steady hand,
He fought for the freedom of this land.
In temples and courts, in speeches and laws,
He championed for people’s rights, their cause.
A life of unconditional sacrifice, so pure,
Equality and justice, his deeds did reassure
His house was a refuge, a sanctuary bright,
For freedom-fighters, in the dark of night.
In floods or battles, he’d rise to aid,
A national leader whose legacy will never fade.
Though he lived for only 58 years, his spirit vast,
He left a mark, one that will last.
A patriot’s heart, a father’s value and principle,
In Halasyam Iyer’s name, stands truth invincible.
May his values endure, through time and tide,
A guiding light, our nation India’s pride.
For in his sacrifice, we understand,
The ultimate love for one’s motherland.
